Bonda Lee-Cunningham, Director of Member Services at the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies, will be retiring at the end of January, 2011.
Lee-Cunningham joined FPWA in 1997 and has been directing the Member Services department since 2001.
“My retirement is bittersweet,” says Lee-Cunningham, “because I’ll really miss working with my colleagues at FPWA and at our member agencies. But at the same time I’m ready and looking forward to beginning this next phase in my life.”
Under Lee-Cunningham’s leadership as Director of Member Services, FPWA provided emergency assistance to New Yorkers who were impacted by the terror attacks of 9/11, built the capacity of HIV/AIDS-serving organizations in Queens and Brooklyn, and implemented a number of new programs and services, including MACRO and HR-PRO. She has also been the driving force behind FPWA’s Annual Conferences during her tenure, developing conference programs, workshops and speakers that address the changing needs of FPWA’s members.
Upon her retirement, FPWA will merge its Member Services and Faith Based Services departments into one division that will be headed by the Reverend Joel Gibson, who currently serves as the Director of Faith Based Services.
“Bonda has been a tremendous asset to FPWA, and we’re really going to miss her, both personally and professionally,” said Goldman. “However, I have full confidence that Joel Gibson will do a terrific job as our new Director of Faith-Based and Member Services.”
