Services for the UnderServed has elected three new board members: Peter Friedland, Marcus Mayo and Amelia Wright Brewer. PETER FRIEDLAND is a Managing Partner at Audax Holdings, a commercial real estate investment and development fund headquartered in New York City. For the past four years Mr. Friedland has targeted, acquired, developed and managed a conservative portfolio of value investments in blue-chip University towns across America. Prior to joining Audax Holdings, Mr. Friedland was a classical theater actor. He trained with Ron Van Lieu, the current Chair of Acting at the Yale School of Drama, and with Slava Dolgachev, former Head of the Moscow Art Theatre. Mr. Friedland graduated Cum Laude from Harvard College with a degree in English and American Literature. He is on the Endowment Committee at MOMA and has served for three years on the Board of The Civilians Theater Company. He is also at work on his first screenplay. Mr. Friedland joined the SUS, Inc. board in June 2009 and serves on the affiliate board of SUS-AIDS Services, Inc. and on the board’s Fund Development Committee. MARCUS MAYO is an associate at ICV Capital Partners, a New York City-based private investment firm focused on making equity investments in smaller middle-market companies and companies with a minority focus. Prior to joining ICV Capital Partners in May 2008, Mr. Mayo worked at McKinsey & Company, a top tier global management consulting firm. Mr. Mayo was appointed to the SUS-Developmental Disabilities Board in early 2009 and serves on the board’s Fund Development Committee. In other efforts to give back to the community, in 2008 Mr. Mayo started The Mayo Consulting Group, to provide volunteer, objective and results-driven advice to non-profit organizations and small- to medium- sized minority owned businesses. Mr. Mayo, a native of Rochester Hills, MI, graduated cum laude from Morehouse College in 2006 with a BA in Business Management. AMELIA WRIGHT BREWER is a Director of Marketing within the Customer Loyalty and Lead Generation team in the Global Commercial Card Group (GCC) of American Express. She heads the Lead Generation team which focuses on the acquisition of mid-sized companies and large corporations for American Express Commercial Card products such as Corporate Card and Corporate Purchasing Card. Ms. Brewer was appointed to the affiliate board of SUS-Mental Health in January 2010, and serves on the board’s Fund Development Committee.Prior to joining American Express, Ms. Brewer was a Manager of Product Strategy and Development at PRTM Management Consulting. Prior to PRTM, she was a Technical Sales Representative for Texas Instruments in Dallas and Boston. Ms. Brewer earned her BS in Electrical Engineering from Howard University in 1994 and her MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 2001. In her spare time, Amelia enjoys reading, traveling, playing golf, and spending time with family and friends. Amelia currently resides in New York City with her husband Ty. |
