More than 145 employees of Deloitte LLP of Jericho, NY rolled up their sleeves and headed to SCO Family of Services' St. Christopher's Home in Sea Cliff on June 11th. The volunteers painted bedrooms and hallways in the place 36 children with developmental disabilities call "home". The project was part of Deloitte's IMPACT Day, which took place worldwide. "In these difficult times, this is such an extraordinary gift to our agency and, more importantly, to the children who live at St. Christopher's Home," said Robert J. McMahon, Executive Director, SCO Family of Services. "IMPACT Day" is an opportunity to celebrate our dedication to helping nonprofit organizations thrive," said Mark David, Office Managing Partner, Jericho, Deloitte LLP. "We believe the most effective way for us to deliver long-term social impact is to share the talent of our people to build stronger nonprofits. It is the most lasting contribution we can make to our community." For a final touch, Deloitte furnished every child's bed with a brand new comforter – to the delight of many happy, grateful kids. Paint and materials for this grand undertaking was donated by local contractor Frank Rasizzi. The value of the entire project was estimated at $40,000. |
