Wednesday, 20 June 2012 02:01

QSAC’s gala, Fitting Together, raised more than $200,000 to support programs and services for children and adults with autism in New York City and Long Island. With nearly 300 supporters in attendance, QSAC recognized this year’s honorees while working to increase autism awareness in the community

The gala was held at Guastavino’s (409 E 59 Street) under the 59th Street Bridge and included a performance by legendary singer/songwriter Martha Wash – QSAC’s celebrity spokesperson.

The event honored Pfizer’s Autism Research Effort with the Corporate Leadership Award, Duncan and Alison Niederauer with the Philanthropic Leadership Award, as well as a special recognition for QSAC’s Executive Director, Gary Maffei, for his twenty years of service. Duncan Niederauer, the CEO of NYSE Euronext, and Alison Niederauer, a board member of Autism Speaks, spoke about the importance of QSAC’s work in the community and the impact it has on the lives of those most in need.

“This year’s gala was a beautiful celebration of QSAC’s many achievements while also being a reminder of our aspirations as an organization," said Yvette Watts, President of QSAC’s Board of Directors. "Each of this year’s honorees reminded us of the importance of supporting QSAC’s work as we continue to respond to increasing need.”
