Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens celebrated the grand opening of anew NYC Financial Empowerment Center in Queens. The new location is also the home of the Catholic Charities Homebase program in Queens.The new Financial Empowerment Center will offer free one-on-one financial coaching in English and Spanish on budgeting, debt management, financial planning, affordable banking services, government benefit screenings, and much more. The Center is hosted by Catholic Charities Homebase and is administered by the Department of Consumer Affairs Office of Financial Empowerment (OFE) in partnership with The Financial Clinic, with support from Capitol One. Among those taking part in the celebration were Cathie Mahon, Executive Director and Assistant Commissioner, Office of Financial Empowerment, New York City Department of Consumer Affairs; Robert Siebel, Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens; Ellen Howard-Cooper, Deputy Commissioner, Prevention Services, New York City Department of Homeless Services; Leroy Comrie, Council Member District 27; Jonathan Mintz, Commissioner of the New York City Office of Consumer Affairs; Giselle Cahalan, Senior Vice President and Regional manager, Capital One; Mae Watson Grote, Executive Director, The Financial Clinic; and Fran Freedman, Associate Commissioner for External Affairs, New York City Department of Consumer Affairs.� |
