POSITION:   CONTROLLER

A not-for-profit, 501 (c) 3 agency located in lower mid-town seeks Controller.

The Controller reports to and assists the Director of Finance and is responsible for all the financial accounting, including payroll, accounts payable, cash receipts and financial reporting.  The Controller also supervises the work of the accounting staff and ensures that the organization is in compliance with all applicable accounting procedures and standards and strong internal controls.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department.  Provide leadership and supervision to four key staff. Monitor accounting, financial reporting and internal control systems throughout the Finance Office. Prepare monthly and year-end financial reports.  Assist the Director of Finance with monthly financial analyses.  Prepare work papers for the annual audit, review of monthly bank reconciliations, journal entries and prepare billing vouchers as required by funding sources.  Work with the Director of Finance to maintain audit schedules of key balance sheet, and revenue accounts with experience in allocation of costs across multiple programs and contracts. The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity for upward mobility within the agency.

REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, 3-5 years’ experience in a similar position; Healthcare, NYSED, NYC DMH, not-for-profit or OPWDD experience strongly preferred. Prior experience with Fund EZ Medicaid billing and Peachtree general ledger systems a plus. Must be proficient in Excel and Word.
