On Wednesday, May 18th, the Save After School campaign, advocating for OST (Out-of-School Time) after school programs, held its first ever Twitter Advocacy Day and mobilized an extraordinary range of supporters -- including numerous celebrities who tweeted their views -- to highlight their concerns and bring them to the attention of Mayor Bloomberg.

Supporters were asked to tweet using the hashtag #saveafterschool and were given a sample tweet: “Hey @MikeBloomberg, don't leave 16,000 NYC kids without OST after school programs! Invest in our future. #saveafterschool”

Overall, the Twitter Advocacy Day was a huge success and far exceeded expectations.  A combination of organizations, supporters, celebrities and local influencers joined in and tweeted using the hashtag.

The total number of tweets with #saveafterschool, over the course of the day, came to nearly 600 tweets. View the full list of tweets here: http://twapperkeeper.com/hashtag/saveafterschool
