SCO Family of Services was the big winner in a $1 million donation contest sponsored by Lady Gaga and the Robin Hood Foundation to support New York City teens living in poverty. The results were announced at Robin Hood's annual dinner last night where Lady Gaga appeared and which reportedly raised $47 million. Over the past few weeks, supporters had the chance to vote for their favorite of five different charities that work with disconnected and at-risk youth in New York City. As top vote getter, SCO receives $500,000. The four other charities --The Door, Lawyers for Children, Hetrick-Martin Institute and Safe Horizon-- will receive awards ranging $50,000 to $200,000. Details of their exact order of finish and the specific amounts of their grants were not yet available. |
