SCO Family of Services’ Sea Cliff Campus will be renamed The Robert J. McMahon Children’s Center in recognition of McMahon’s 37 years as the agency’s Executive Director and his lifelong commitment to serving New York’s most vulnerable and children and families. In June, McMahon announced his plans to retire as the Executive Director of SCO upon the successful search for his successor. Under his leadership, SCO (which was then known as St. Christopher’s) has grown from a small a small Long Island based agency with a budget of just under one million dollars to become one of the largest social services providers in the New York area, serving more than 40,000 annually at 122 locations throughout New York City and Long Island. SCO’s Board of Directors voted unanimously to rename the Sea Cliff campus, which is home to SCO’s St. Christopher’s Home and the Tyree Learning Center for 73 developmentally disabled children. “I am deeply humbled to have our Sea Cliff campus named in my honor. It holds a special place in my heart since it’s where I started at SCO and because it serves special needs children who really capture what our agency’s mission is all about,” said McMahon. Bishop Joseph M. Sullivan will officiate at the renaming ceremony which will be held on October 27th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. To RSVP for the renaming ceremony, or to learn about other events planned in McMahon’s honor, contact the SCO Development Office at 516.671.1253 ext. 108. |
